Extra network indicator menu in Unity Zesty

There is an extra network indicator menu in Unity on Ubuntu 17.04 Alpha. This can be verified with the daily iso.

Maybe this was caused by the network-manager or network-manager-applet updates?

We have the same issue in Ubuntu MATE, now that mate-panel has StatusNotifier support in its notification area applet. It's reported in bug 1675580. Should it be marked as duplicate? I'm not sure yet if the cause is the same.

I can no longer duplicate my original bug on Unity so I'm going to close this bug so that we don't confuse potentially unrelated bugs.
