Bug Description

Binary package hint: netbeans

Open tools, Plugins.

You can't select any checkboxes.
Go to installed and try to check a plugin to uninstall with the mouse.
You can't - nothing happens.

However if you highlight an entry and press space, it checks.
You can then install or remove plugins as normal.

This also happens inside the 'Remote Download' window on ubuntu 10.04 Netbeans 6.8
Clicking on the checkbox has no effect.
If you right click you on the checkbox you can do 'check all'

Does this happen on all checkboxes? If so, surely the 'importance' of this bug should be set pretty high.

I'm confirming this behavior for Ubuntu 10.10 with Netbeans 6.9. Cannot check the plugin install column boxes with a mouse gesture.

I confirm the same behavior for netbeans 6.9 with Ubuntu 10.04. Also, I'm not able to uninstall CVS, Subversion or Mercurial plugins because uninstall option is not available. And if I try to deactivate any of these plugins, the IDE restart required resets the option and maintain it active.

This is happening to me in Ubuntu 10.04 with openjdk, but not with sun jdk. We have tested in another host, and oddly it works fine with openjdk.

I can confirm this in a clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61. I also tried the Sun JDK and still had the same issue. Also, the workaround mentioned (using the space bar or "check all") only works for the plugin list - other checkbox lists don't respond to either method.

Has there been any progress toward diagnosing this problem or finding a fix? This makes it rather difficult to use many features of NetBeans, a heavily-used development environment.

Just to confirm; observing same behavior; mouse click on Plugin checkbox not working but works with spacebar. Fresh Ubuntu 10.10 with default OpenJDK running inside VirtualBox.

Confirmed; after installing OracleJDK from repository and removing OpenJDK; it is fine.
