same in 14.04 - cant install snmpd on a fresh 14.04 installation....

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Sorry, I am unable to reproduce this. On a fresh Trusty LXC container, "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y install snmpd" and "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y --no-install-recommends snmpd" both work correctly.

Please can you provide precise steps to reproduce and then change the bug status back to New when done?
