Same problem with me, perhaps changing to a Gutsy kernel will do the trick. More hastle than I want right now, I'll stick with my desktop for the time being and fingers crossed for an update soon!

I have tried doing as you suggested and installing the Gusty versions of ndiswrapper and ndiswrapper-utils.
This does not make any change for me. I am still unable to connect.
I did tried this on a clean install and with the live CD.
