Bug Description

When upgraded to kernel 2.6.22 (gutsy standard one), ndiswrapper stopped getting to connect to my any wifi networks.
I use an rt73 based wifi usb minicard and have rt73 and rt73usb blacklisted in modprobe.d.
All my networks are wep-based.
Using iwlist scanning detects the network rightly, but it won't connect to it, not via System->Administration->Network, nor via nm-applet, nor via command line.
When I boot back to kernel 2.6.20 it works flawlessly.

I am having the same problem (with an atheros card that isn't supported by madwifi yet). This is after upgrading to "2.6.22-9-generic". It was working with the previous version, so the issue seems to be with the upgrade.

Ok, I purged the ndiswrapper-common and ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 packages, then deleted the remaining files in /etc. I reinstalled those packages and configured them for my card, and it worked the next time I booted. So it seems like this is some issue with upgrading and the configuration.

I have confirmed this problem on my acer aspire 5570 2067 with atheros and ndiswrapper. It appeared after the update on 9/20/2007 to the 2.6.22 kernel. As described above, booting to the 2.6.20 kernel corrected the problem.

Provide the output of
uname -a
and
ndiswrapper -l

Also try the latest version (1.49rc1 at the time of this writing). Please don't forget running make uninstall before installing the newer version.

I can't see any coherence between this bug and the one you mentioned. The latter (bug 134660) is about some native dirver problems while this one is about some ndiswrapper issues.

Because rt73 card are supported natively since 2.6.24. No need ndiswrapper.

Only because there are native drivers the ndiswrapper-bug doesn't disappear.
Please try with ndiswrapper in hardy (which has ndiswrapper 1.52).
