Problem with search field

All the time I'm trying to type first letters of the file I need "Searching Field" which appears on the right bottom is disappearing. Or every time I'm trying to write smth inside, sometimes I write wrong letters. In old versions of Ubuntu Backspace was deleting last letters. Here in takes me out of the folder... please make it as it was... cant't clean it. Got a screenshot

It looks like the quick look up box is not cleared when displaying a new folder

When I try to clean quick look up box it takes me out of the folder, instead of cleaning letters I delete
