CTRL + T on desktop opens new tab and nautilus window

Pressing CTRL + T on the desktop opens a new blank tab and a separate nautilus browser window. See attached screenshot

I believe it happened after the switch to nautilus-3. Now nautilus on desktop does everything as it does in a folder.
