Problem opening folders with background images from GNOME 2.6?

1. Boot to a distro with Gnome 2.6. Add a background image on your home
folder on that distro. Reboot to Ubuntu. Mount and load that home folder
with Nautilus. All files show as "generic" and not even directories are
clickable: http://www.osnews.com/img/8286/ubuntu3.png Other folders seem to
work fine with Nautilus 2.8, it's the one that has the background, my home
folder, that doesn't work (haven't tried to take the bg image out yet).

2. Open the "Computer" nautilus window. Drag-n-drop the devices from there,
to your desktop. Notice that all of them carry "locks". They shouldn't have
locks.

First, please try to open a bug report for each problem you get (2 nautilus bugs
= 2 bug reports).

1. I'm not sure to understand the problem. You mount your home from an another
distro and get in the dir with nautilus and you get the problem on the
screenshot ... you think the problem is due to the background you set for this
dir in nautilus ? Does it work without it ?

2. I confirm this here, probably an upstream problem, I'll check in the GNOME
bugzilla

No, I mount another distro from within ubuntu.

I just tried it. No, the problem is not the background, the problem remains.

How is mounted the partition ? Do you have the right permissions on the file ?

I mount it as root under /mnt/slack:
mount /dev/hda2 slack
I try to navigate through nautilus as "eugenia". The files
on /home/eugenia are owned by the "eugenia" user of Slackware. Please
note though, that Slackware's eugenia is on the group "root", while
Ubuntu's eugenia is on group "eugenia".

And all is fine in a gnome-terminal ? You can edit/create/open files in this dir
from the console ?

Eugenia: open a gnome-terminal and do 'ls -ld /path/to/directory' where
/path/to/directory is the directory showing the problem. I suspect the problem
is that your uid on slackware is not the same as your uid on ubuntu.

I can see this happen when the directory is not executable for my user but is
readable (0744).
