Bug Description

When pressing the "back" button on a mouse with such a button, Nautilus should go back to the folder it was at before (As if you had clicked the "Back" button in the Nautilus UI). This currently works in all views except list view. When in list view, Nautilus selects a file rather than going back.

I can't reproduce this in either Maverick or Lucid.

I think you misunderstood the situation. Im talking about the back button on the mouse! I tested it on lucid and maverick and it selects a file instead going back in list view. Please check again.

This is an upstream bug and therefore should be filed in GNOME Bugzilla directly: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/

If you have done that, please add the link to the bug here.

By the way, this is not a paper cut since it does not seem that easy to fix as it is device-specific.

This annoying problem has around been since I've started using ubuntu (gutsy), i.e. a LONG time. It is NOT device specific as I have experienced this with many different mouses. I've been using a work around to directly map the back button (alt_left) using xbindkeys. It would be nice if I didnt have to though.
