Bug Description
Binary package hint: nautilus
when changing the permissions of a directory, the 'apply permissions to enclosed files' button had no effect. why? because (after much head scratching) the directory turned out to be a symlink to a directory.
the button should either work (ie: follow the symlink and do its job) or be greyed out (or better yet tell you why it's not working).
my preference would be to just follow the symlink and get on with it..
this is karmic, but also tested to fail on hardy, and presumably everything in between.
