Later on, I noticed that my desktop icons were gone, and nautilus wouldn't start up anymore (or it took very long, but I didn't wait for that.) Possibly has something to do with accidentally being logged in to an unknown open wifi network that didn't have the network drive that I linked (amongst others) my Documents folder to?
