Bug Description

It's about the dialog opened after clicking on the nautilus "Open with other application" item.
I think it should have a simple checkbox labelled "Make this application default for .* files", or something similar, instead of going on
properties item > open with tab > add > select the application in the same dialog as before. (this takes 3 steps more); moreover I think it's more intuitive to find this option in the open with dialog.

Thanks to all

Please note that this feature has been implemented as a checkbox saying "Remember this application for $FILETYPE files" in GNOME 2.29.92 (Ubuntu 10.04 Beta), however this feature is on by default and fails to function properly (see Bug #550004).

Confirming that the option to "Always use..." is now present in Lucid

If it does not work , it is Bug #550004

The "Open With" feature, SHOULD have an "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" check-box (see attachment).

Compare this attachment, with the one I post next (the dialog from nautilus, after clicking "Open With").

Notice in this attachment, that nautilus is missing the checkbox that is NOT missing in my previous post's attachment.

Is the status of this bug wrong (Fix Released)?

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2, and this is still an issue. Shouldn't someone change it to "confirmed"?
