Bug Description
User can accidentally trash files by hitting Del key, even without noticing it. So far there is no functionality to display a confirmation dialog in such cases.
There have been many user requests in Gnome Bugzilla, but Nautilus developers decided not to implement this. However while the current behavior may be quite dangerous, there should really be an option to confirm file trash operations in Nautilus, probably with some "Don't ask again" check box for advanced users.
I would also consider another optional confirmation of drag-n-drop operations, especially after lot of files accidentally sunk in wrong directories.

I do not agree with you. I like it, as it is.
Files in the Trash Folder are here to be deleted. You have actively and deliberately moved them there!
In the case, that trashing a file happened accidentally, you can open the Trash Folder and recover it.
Then you will not hit the Del button... I'm sure.
It would interrupt and slow down the workflow, if you get asked "Are you really really sure this time to do...?" the whole time. In other Operating Systems (i do not mention names...) you have to interact 4 times with your computer to delete a file. This is really unnecessary!
