This happens a few seconds after startup. When I kill de process the problem appears again 3-5 seconds after nautilus reboot.
When I open nautilus for the terminal I get:

I've encountered this same bug in Jaunty and judging from posts on Ubunutuforums I am not the only one running into the issue. Simply put, if one clicks on a Desktop icon all icons on the Desktop disappear. Also, clicking on the Desktop itself will no longer bring up a menu.

The panel functions continue to work. In my case, Awn continues to work.

However, to retrieve the Desktop icons I need to reboot.

The problem appears randomly. Sometimes the system will run for an entire session and all is well. Other times, it crashes on the first click of a Desktop icon.

dbus-launch nautilus works correctly

System -amd64, dual monitors, NVIDIA 8500 GTS, Jaunty 9.04. This is not a laptop.

Same bug.

More info:

$ dbus-launch nautilus
Initializing nautilus-dropbox 0.6.1

** (nautilus:2146): WARNING **: Unable to add monitor: No soportado
Nautilus-Share-Message: Called "net usershare info" but it failed: La «red compartida» devolvió el error 255: info_fn: file /var/lib/samba/usershares/iso is not a well formed usershare file.
info_fn: Error was Path is not a directory.

After that, nautilus hangs and i've to kill it. If I restart nautilus, it happens again. After launch the command, nautilus opens and when I select a directory, it gets freeze.

same bug .

Info :
$ dbus-launch nautilus
Nautilus-Share-Message: Called "net usershare info" but it failed: 'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare: cannot open usershare directory /var/lib/samba/usershares. Error No such file or directory
Please ask your system administrator to enable user sharing.

** (nautilus:5983): WARNING **: Unable to add monitor: Not supported

After that, my icons came back but if i click any icon again , then thet disappear again .To sort it out ,i installed cairo dock to open my desktop icons properly but its just a replacement, not solution of the bug.

i have bug like that, but desktop icons disappeared today on nearly 3rd day of utpime.

I have the same problem. Please help
