.Trash on removable media?

Bug Description

Perhaps this has been discussed in detail before but I think it's wrong to use the .Trash mechanism on removable media. The trouble is primarily that removable media don't usually have the space to handle it, but here's an important scenario:

Andrew uses nautilus to manage the files on his MP3 player. It only has 256 MB, so he deletes one directory to make room for another. Unfortunately there isn't any more space than there was before he removed the directory.

To make things worse, when he unplugs his MP3 player he finds that all his old songs are still there only now they're hidden.

Emptying the trash sounds like a good idea, but Andrew has been meaning to sift through there and make sure he didn't throw away anything valuable and doesn't feel up to the task right now.
