How to reproduce:
1. Download "file-535038625
2. Right click on the downloaded file and select "properties"(the file is downloaded to Desktop)
3. The "You can not stop this" with button "cancel" dialog appears. Click on cancel very fast, because it disappears quickly
4. All desktop icons disappear if you use metacity. Click on Places and select Desktop
