moogman@eyebrow:~/Desktop$ cat ubuntu\ -\ Google\ Search.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Link to ubuntu - Google Search
Type=Link
URL=http://www.google.com/search?&q=ubuntu
Icon=gnome-fs-bookmark

From http://library.gnome.org/devel/desktop-entry-spec/:

Quoting must be done by enclosing the argument between double quotes and escaping the double quote character... Reserved characters are question mark ("?")...

I've tried using \? "?" "\?" \"?" \"\" etc., but none of these make the link work.

Hi, This is not a duplicate.

The problem in bug #233913 does not seem to exist on my machine. Additionally, the 'custom launcher' is a different application to the 'Create Launcher' on the desktop.

If you can confirm that the following reproducible steps above result in the correct outcome in Ibex then that would be great. Otherwise, this is still a bug.

Thanks!

I can confirm this bug. On first inspection it would seem that the url isn't properly encapsulated with -->"<-- or the punctuation question mark isn't properly escaped.
