Bug Description

Selecting several files with the keyboard: CTRL - mouseclick toggles 1 file and keeps selected. SHIFT-click selects between last selected and now selected, but SHIFT-CTRL-click does not register the SHIFT funktion, so instead of selecting all files between previous click and this one, it only selects this file.

This using ubuntu 8.04 with all updates todate. This happens in file-manager

Thanks for reporting this problem and making Ubuntu better.

I can confirm the described behaviour on nautilus on hardy BETA. However, I believe this is in the parameter of default behaviour. The shift selection, always refers back to the last clicked position to the current one. I don't see any meaningful behaviour diverting from the current one.

Please explain exactly what should happen and why this is a proper change for the default behaviour. Otherwise, I would like to close this report.

Thanks

As far as I recall, it used to select the new set (from last
(ctrl)-click to this shift-click) while keeping the old selection (with
the Ctrl)

at least in windows it works like this
click #select 1
shift-click #select batch between 1 and this click
Ctrl-click #select another while keeping above selection
shift-ctrl-click #select second batch between last ctrl-click and this
one while keeping first selection

At least for my setup the last click just ignores the shift, and selects
only the clicked, so I end up with click to shift-click, plus
ctrl-click, plus shift-ctrl-click
and I wanted click to shift-click plus ctrl-click _to_ shift-ctrl-click
