Same problem here. I just did my daily update of Breezy, under an hour ago,
restarted the machine, and now Nautilus won't start (no desktop, and no file
browser), keeps crashing (error dialog won't go away), lots of missing icons
everywhere, too. The "Places" menu is pretty much void of any icon, for example.

Despite this sight of end of the world, the rest of the desktop seems to work
just fine, somehow :)

Thanks for your bug. Can you get a backtrace from gdb when it crashes? That's
probably http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314378

Vincent, your issue is not the same. What icon theme do you use?

I use the 'Clearlooks' theme (not 'Human'), but I don't know for sure what icons
this theme uses, I think it's just the normal "Gnome" icon set.

current clearlooks doesn't ship an icon theme, change your icon theme

I say "I think", because the theme preferences dialog is apparently damaged, so
I don't know how much I trust it !
In the first tab, all the thmes preview images, have been replaced with a
genereic, grey picture, with a large question mark over them....

Ah, I changed the icon theme to "Gnome", and it fixed it, all icones are now
back :-)
Problem is that now, of course, I get all the old/ugly green icons (arrows,
plus/minus signs etc..), which Clearooks used to replace with blue equivalent...
but if Clearlooks doens't ship these icons anymore, I guess I will have to add
them by hand. I hope the theme is still available somewhere in
gnomelooks.org... :-/

Okay, so I guess I am now back to the main problem... poor Nautilus that won't
load and keeps crashing when logging in ! The desktop is not very funny without
Nautilus... no file browser, no "Computer" place, no background, no nothing ;o)

I have just somehow managed to fix the problem :

I went to System->Preferences->Sessions, and changed the properties of the
Nautilus process so that it stops being reloaded&recrashed all the time.
Then I close the error dialog, it didn't come back since Nautilus wasn't
reloard. Then in a terminal, I started Nautilus by hand and somehow, it loaded
properly !
I logged-out, logged back in, and Nautilus loaded fine, no errors dialog, no
crash. Hope that works for someone else as well...
