Bug Description

When I have a folder open and try to snap the window to the sides of my second monitor nothing happens. Bringing the window to the top of the screen will make it go full screen as expected. Snapping works perfectly on my primary monitor (left, top, right). Other applications like terminal, gedit, and Firefox snap correctly on my second monitor.

I use Gnome and have observed the issue on Ubuntu 18.04 and 18.10 (possibly affected earlier versions too but don't remember 100%). My monitors are side by side with my secondary monitor to the right of my primary. I have an ASUS nVidia GTX 760. The primary display uses HDMI and the secondary display uses VGA from the DVI-I port.

What's the resolution of your second monitor? gnome-shell is going to refuse to snap a window to half of the screen if the minimal width of that one is higher than the target (similar to what is described in bug #1804973)

That's probably it. My primary is 1920x1080 and my secondary is 1280x1024. I just took two windows and manually placed them and at their smallest width they overlap. At least I know why this is happening now. Thanks.

Upstream doesn't consider it as a bug, at least not in nautilus. Could perhaps be handled in a nicer way in gnome-shell though...
