Nautilus fails to show file transfer status when copying from NAS (using AFP)

Bug Description
When copying a file from a NAS using the AFP protocol the "pie chart" graphic in Nautilus fails to display status of the transfer. Eventually the file is copied to the Ubuntu system correctly.
This does not occur when copying from Ubuntu system to the NAS, in that case the progress graph displays the file transfer progress.
