Bug Description

When copying a file from a remote samba resource I get an error "Error when copying <filename>", more information: "Error during file splitting: input/output error". The problem occurs only in the Nautilus file manager, copying by the terminal or by another file manager works properly without error.

I use Ubuntu 18, packages associated with nautilus:

Thank you for your bug report. Does it happen on any share/file or only on specific ones? Can you copy using "gio copy ..." or does that hit the same issue?

Could you also do 'GVFS_DEBUG=1 /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r', try the copy and copy any output you get there?

This happens when copying files using nautilus. I can copy files using a terminal (e.g. gio copy) and another file manager, e.g. double commander. Earlier I observed that this happens when copying photos and documents, and the error appeared after copying 1 MB of data (smaller files were copied), but now I looked at it again and trying to copy a 350 MB zip file, I received an error at the very end. It looks as if the file was copied in full, but with an error at the very end, so I can't say if the contents are correct.

Using 'GVFS_DEBUG=1 /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r' unfortunately does not return any output.

That replace the command, it shouldn't output anything immediatly but it's supposed to print debug statements when you access the smb location and probably when starting the copy. Can yo check again it's not the case?
