Bug Description

Hi

I'm running 17.10 today's update (2017-08-12)

I've put on the deskop 2 kinds of files : xx.txt and yy.odt
If I right click on anyone, then cut & paste in Data Perso partition for ex, fine
if I drag & drop instead, the file is frozen, some opened windows the same.

The only exit is : Ctrl+Alt+Del to close and open the session

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu Artful Aardvark (development branch)
Release: 17.10

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1710346/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I received and read your wiki to find the appli package, but "my bug" just corresponds to "drag and drop" which does not seem to be an appli package.
How can I help you then ?

@g-vaquant, could you follow the steps here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOME#Debugging_specific_GNOME_applications) related with nautilus to try and add more information to this bug report?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Gustavo
I don't really know what to send you.
I give you some info about Nautilus: added shell extensions
- Dash to panel
- Extensions
- Force quit
- Lock keys
- no topleft hot corner
- recent items
- touchpad indicator

g-vaquant, you should be able to reproduce your issue and run this command in the terminal to get the log: G_DEBUG="all" NAUTILUS_DEBUG="All" nautilus Then you can add the log here in LP.
Hope I was able to help.

And thanks for your contribution so far!

Hi again Gustavo
I Just come back from vacation, I did not bring this PC, then when I
arrived I just updated it, and from now on, no Pb any more.
I suspect the latest updates solved the issue.
Thx for your concern, you can now turn this bug to fixed
Have a nice evening

Dear all,
I switched to 17.10 on Friday and I noticed the same exact problem.
This is not solved, because my Ubuntu version is fully updated.
when I drag and drop files from the desktop to an open nautilus window, the mouse cursor gets stacked and the only solution to unblock the situation is to restart the laptop.
Killing nautilus does not solve the problem, therefore it seems unlikely to me that the bug is related to nautilus.
