Thank you for your bug report, what nautilus package version do you have? When did the issue start? What text are you speaking about, does it concern preference dialog, menus, icon or list view...?

The desktop text; it's tiny on a hiDPI (scale = 2.0) display.

Nope. Everything other than the desktop (nautilus) font changes.

Yep, the bug seems to have gone away now. I had seen it on a couple of yakkety systems though :S

wonder if that's depending of the order in which the processes start, it might be fixed once the systemd for user session work is completed

This seems to be very old. I'm not seeing this at all in Gnome 3.32, Ubuntu 19.04, neither in mid-dpi screens (with fractional scaling or font scaling) nor in retina like screens (with 2x scaling).

Nautilus isn't used for the desktop in 19.04. So this bug should remain open for Ubuntu 18.04 (if it still applies).
