Bug Description

With the shift to spatial browsing, we need to improve the "open parent"
experience. Let's put together ideas for the Breezy timeframe. Options would be
a button / navigation toolbar, or a more discoverable keystroke than "backspace".

Isn't Alt+Up a nice and discoverable keystroke? It feels natural for me.

I think adding a button/navigation toolbar is not the good way to do this,
unless upstream implements it too. Diverging too much from upstream is not a
good thing in the long term.

Perhaps I am just confused as to your meaning here... however, there is already an option that
allows you to go to parent folder (bottem corner, says where you are at... click this, and it
lists everything back to / )

Perhaps showing this in a more noticeable mannor would be benificial, or moving it more into
focus... perhaps simply having some text like "Goto:" prior to it.

Also, on a related note, adding the ctrl+l dialog to this menu, perhaps with a seperator and
called "Other" would be benificial.

I understand the 'spatial paradigm'... but making these things easier to find would be benificial
I think... Either way, I don't think we can differ greatly from mainstream. As was stated in the
previous bug, consistency is key. Whatever is decided has to be something mainstream will accept,
otherwise it is worthless to all.

I believe the best course of action would be to use the Browse mode by default
in leu of Ubuntu-spatial. It has more support from Gnome upstream and is
familair to many Mac OS X and Windows 98 users, and could even be worked out in
time for a 4/8/05 release of Hoary.
