Bug Description

Bug starts with feisty fawn.
Create a file on the desktop. Change the default icon for this file and the place of the icon.
Update the content of the file.
When you save the file, the icon is reset to its original "image" and place.
It only does that with text file.

You can use links on the desktop as a way aroud.
But since gnome did not have this behaviour in edgy, i suppose it can be corrected.
Or is it a feature ???

Sebastien Bacher : is it (as I marked it) a nautilus bug ? I want to be sure before reporting upstream.

"gedit" seems to be the problem :
Made some tests.
Change the icon of an odt file on the desktop, modify the file with OpenOffice. No problem.
Change the icon of a jpg file on the desktop, modify the file with Gimp. No problem.
Change the icon of a txt file on the desktop, modify the file with nano. No problem.
Change the icon of a txt and html file on the desktop, modify the files with gedit. Icons become standard during ou just after the saving process.
The same things happen in any directory.
We got you "gedit", surrender ...
What happened to "gedit" between Edgy and Feisty (still here in Gutsy) ????

The gedit issue is known, http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436366, that's because it writes to a temporary file first and then rename this one, is the issue limited to program doing that?
