nautilus does not start

After clicking the nautilus could not be launched for many clicks

Note that you can still launch instances of nautilus by, e.g., clicking on the little folder icon on the right of each download on Firefox.

I have apparently seen this error on:
$ uname -a

I do not know how I caused it to happen though. The automatic error reporting brought me here.
