Nautilus does not save all user settings "show/hide sidebar"

Bug Description

Nautilus saves some user settings and not others.
For instance, it saves my preference for list view.
But it does not save my preference for hiding the sidebar.
It should save all user preferences.

I've spent hours searching for how to hide the sidebar by default, but apparently one can't.
