Bug Description

I have lots of pictures on my computer and they are taken on digital camera. It makes them 1-6 MB each, and it is common to have 300-500 files in one folder. But using Nautilus to navigate there is a huge error, until I can do anything in that folder, it takes more than a minute. The file list does not appear instantly, but files appear as they get a thumbnail.
See the attached screen recording, in my case it took more than 1 minute and 10 seconds to be able to do anything in that folder. It is a blocking bug.

And thumbs do not have a standard size, like a square, they are shows upper/lower depending on the portrait/landscape type of picture.

And it does not cache thumbnails, it loads this slow every time. It is extremely painfull to work with lots of images in Ubuntu because of this. Please try to fix this, or at least offer a different file manager (for instance Xubuntu's file manager is extremely fast and does not seem to have anything less than what Nautilus offers).

I have already reported it on Gnome Filezilla: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=711044

PS: Please do not send me upstream to bomb them over there, even if it is an upstream bug, it in Ubuntu which is unusable, normal users do not and should not care it is Gnome over there which does not work as expected.

I really wonder why there are so few developers take this kind of bugs serious, they are a lot more important than some other like making Nautilus so dome fancy stuff :) Everyday usage is a lot more important that some fancy things, it is this that keeps people here or go to some other OS / software :)

As someone said on Gnome Bugzilla, if the above link does not work, this should do the trick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrbNCg4ijtU (both work for me).

I have created another bug report on Gnome Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=711201) because Nautilus does not check the file size before creating thumbnails. I have set it to only show thumbs for files less than 500 KB, but I get thumbs for files larger than 5-6 MB. See attachment. Should I create another bug report on Launchpad, too, or is it enough to have it here?
