Bug Description

* Impact: renaming icons on the desktop has text contrast issues

* Test case: rename an icon on the desktop, move the cursor, see if there is a white background color making the text easy to read or not

* Regression potential: check that the rename UI looks as it should

---------------------

When creating or renaming an icon on the desktop, nautilus no longers colors the background ellipse white, resulting in text being unreadable. See attached screenshot for comparison between Raring and Saucy.

nautilus doesn't color any rename, it isn't the quite the issue in nautilus as the default bg is off-white
may as well dupe the ubuntu-themes bug that has languished for 3.5 months

@Doug: that's not a theme issue afaik, nautilus has the same issue on other distributions

The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

So as far as I can see this only happens when renaming files on the Desktop. As files on the Desktop are not supported anymore by Gnome, this is probably a wontfix from their perspective. Just saying we shouldn't expect much help from upstream with this if I'm not totally wrong.

@Matthias: the support for files on the desktop was added back, as supported, to GNOME 3.8 as part of their "fallback mode"

Any chance for a backport to saucy?

that's was done at the same time as the trusty upload, that's why the description won a SRU description and why the saucy target is marked as "in progress", it's waiting for review from the SRU team in the queue:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+queue?queue_state=1&queue_text=nautilus

Stéphane Graber (stgraber) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello Marc, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nautilus into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/1:3.8.2-0ubuntu2.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!
