No way to get out of the home directory after connecting to server by ssh

Bug Description

By default I get logged to my /home/myname/ directory. And I cannot get anywhere out of it like in to /opt/apps because:
- there is no move up button in the GUI, only the move back button
- my home directory is the root item in the top navigation menu

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. Could you try if that's still an issue in newer Ubuntu versions?
