Strange work with the icons

Bug Description

As it's known, for many years neither Gnome nor KDE developed any convenient tools to work with links(like Windows' shortcuts). today I downloaded Eclipse package andd tried to make a link to it's executable file. Here is what I got: http://chod.sk/a08n2
That would be great if you developed much more sane ways to work with links

I do understand that a general user would use soft provided from repositories but I find it limiting a great range of possibilities a modern OS can provide to it's user.

GNOME project is known for it's total ignoring users' requests about different improvements. So hope you accept this feature request.
