Bug Description

The only thing that partially fixed this was to remove bookmarks as someone had advised, but even then definitely not as fast or responsive when running nautilus as root.

This began to happen a few months ago ( not sure exactly when).

Ubuntu 12.04
nautilus 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu7

Any immediate solutions/tips would be welcome, nautilus is for me is the most useful file manager.
