unable to open terminal and the side bar of desktop is gone

Bug Description
i installed an application for live wallpaper and configuring the display properties the system restarted .
Now, i cannot access the terminal and the taskbar as well as the side bar of desktop are gone .
Is there any way so that i can restore to back date .
