Bug Description

The nautilus-dropbox package cannot be found and/or installed using GNOME Software (Ubuntu Software) because the needed AppStream metadata seems to be completely missing in Ubuntu 17.04. Probably some issue with appstream-generator?

Well, this package is in Yakkety and there are no issues preventing it from showing up, so no asgen bug there.

The nautilus-dropbox package could only improve the situation a bit by adding a proper metainfo file for a Nautilus addon: https://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/sect-Metadata-Addon.html

Where is the problem then? There were no changes in the nautilus-dropbox package since Yakkety, but the AppStream metadata for this package are missing in Zesty, for some reason.

Right, sorry - I hastily only looked at the first link.
This is indeed very strange.
Iain, can you please take a look at this?

Dunno. The logs say that it never saw the current version.

Removed, it should get reprocessed, we'll see if that works

Weird... Asgen will log even packages that are completely ignored, so it should show up in the logs...
Thanks for reprocessing, let's see if that helps :-)

So it was never processed(?), but when I dropped it, it knew about the new version number...

I wonder how that can happen

It can't happen... It must have been processed to be in the database, and in that case we'd have a log message. It obviously was in the db though.
The only way I see this could have happened is by having the generator crash at a bad time.
