Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner

when I insert a empty CD, it is properly detected. I right click on a iso image and 'write to disk', nothing happens. but I notice nautilus-cd-burner process taking 90% CPU
5 minutes later the bruning dialog appears. I click to choose the speed. but I get hundreds or entries from 0.2x to 8.x and higher ( with multiple 0.2x entries ). This may be the cause of the hang. it takes minutes to scroll up to desired speed. Afterwards, the burning dialog hangs for another 10 minutes. After that, I click burn and it burns successfully.

The newest version of it is 2.15.7-0ubuntu1 try upgrading to that version and see if it is still a problem. Thank you.

I updated, but unfortunately I still experience that same problem with 2.15.7-0ubuntu1

This used to work fine in Dapper before I upgraded to edgy.

I using cdrecord from command line and it worked so this is not a cdrecord bug.
Any troubleshooting steps I can do to help figure out why this bug is still happenong?

could you run /usr/lib/nautilus-cd-burner/list_cddrives and copy that to a comment or attach it to the bug page? That might be the same issue than bug #55327 by example

I'm having similar trouble. I haven't yet tried it from the command line, but here are my symptoms:

The "Write Image" dialog takes several minutes to appear, in the interim between when an the "write to disc" button is clicked or a .iso file's context menu's "write to disc" entry is selected, CPU usage goes up to 100%. When the dialog finally appears, the speed 0.0x is selected. Clicking the 0.0x selector triggers another long wait. When the list of speeds finally appears, it's populated with hundreds (if not thousands) of entries, starting with a "0.0x" at the bottom, followed by about 20 more "0.0x", followed by about 20 "0.1x" entries on up. I threw my mouse to the top of the screen to attempt to get to the fastest speed, but after several minutes, I was still only at "8.7x", which I selected and proceeded to burn. The burn appears to have gone OK, though it was not at 8.7x, it was closer to the max speed my drive supports (a burn of the knot-2 CD took about 3-4 minutes).

BTW: this was with 2.15.7-0ubuntu2

Sorry for the continued bug spam, but I ran nautilus-cd-burner from the command line and I get the same result (100% cpu usage over several minutes).

I'm also attaching the result of running /usr/lib/nautilus-cd-burner/list_cddrives

Still a problem in nautilus-cd-burner 2.16.0 with a list_cddrives similar to Michael R. Head's
