This is a common 'problem' with removing packages that are installed by the ubuntu-standard meta package. When you remove those packages the meta-package is also removed, but that doesn't mean any other packages will be removed too nor that your system will be completely removed. It's perfectly safe to remove the ubuntu-standard package.
