Nanny (Parental Control) fails to run on Ubuntu Precise

Bug Description
I have tried running Nanni in Ubuntu Precise with Unity 3D and also with Gnome Classic.
In both instances the program fails to run. Not a single visual cue on the program state appears.
There are reviews that Nanny (a.k.a Parental Control) fails to run on Ubuntu 11.10, so it seems that this problem has been known for quite a while.
