I am getting the following error whenever I start nagios3 process.

I'm getting this problem too. Here's the stacktrace to the SIGSEGV:

WORKAROUND: As this appears to be happening during the update check (http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/configmain.html#check_for_updates), I switched it off on nagios.cfg

check_for_updates=0

After this, I restarted, and it all works fine again (although I get a warning about update checks on the front page).
