Bug Description

Mythbuntu Lucid Beta 2, AMD x1250 integrated GPU on 690 motherboard.

DVD iso playback from mythvideo fails with AFD errors:

2010-04-18 09:55:28.681 [mpeg2video @ 0x7f0c32429360]get_buffer() failed (stride changed)

Playback worked fine with updates to ~April 13 but has failed since update on April 17.

Current mythvideo version: 0.23.0+fixes24104-0ubuntu1

== Regression details ==
Discovered in version: 0.23.0+fixes24104-0ubuntu1

I get the same problem. Lucid beta 2, Intel graphics.

Howdy, and thank you for helping to improve Mythbuntu by opening this ticket. I found that upstream appears to have fixed this in trunk (http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/24145), but it has not yet been backported to -fixes.

It looks like this fix found it's way to myth's 0.23-fixes branch: http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/24252/branches/release-0-23-fixes/mythtv/libs/libmythtv/avformatdecoder.cpp

I tried it out (built two versions with just this as the difference) and it fixes DVD playback.

I installed Mythbuntu 10.04 a few weeks ago and I believe I am affected by this bug as well. I configured Mythvideo to use 'Internal' player and made sure the drive path is correct. The issue appears to be with the Internal player because vlc successfully plays the DVD on the same machine.

Steps...
Use 'Play DVD' in Mythbuntu menu to watch a DVD movie inserted into DVD drive.

Symptom
Black/blank screen. DVD drive (green) light appears/flashes. Video never begins. Use terminal to kill mythfrontend.

Output from /var/log/mythtv/mythfrontend.log

Hi all,
This bug is affecting me in the current 10.04. It is also interesting that mplayer fails to play DVDs, but other players (vlc, totem) work fine for me.

Question for package manager: is there a way to get the fixed code into the standard Ubuntu repository so that we don't have to build from scratch to avoid this bug? (it's a pretty serious bug).

If not, question for Phill: Can you please point me to a how-to for how to build from scratch using the fixes/fixed branch of source code.

Cheers,
Randall.

You can use the mythbuntu teams repo to get an updated package for 10.04.
You can even update to 0.24 with it. Updated packages will not be going into
the standard ubuntu repos
