Did you have any more luck with this? It appears that mythtv #3031 was closed over a year ago, so i'd doubt it's the same bug. If you are still encountering it, can you try switching to the weekly builds? If they fix the problem, then we can select a fix to backport with it.

The tuner that generated the above error, did successfully record a (1 hour) show 1.5 hours earlier on channel 5-1 (CBLT-DT), which is the same channel that is still "stuck" in the PSIP data for the requested channel 2-1 (WGRZ-HD).

I thought I had a work around by changing these settings under "Capture Card Setup" -> "Recording Options":

check -> "Open DVB card on demand"
un-check -> "Use DVB Card for active EIT scan"

Prior to these changes, I was seeing 3-5 failed recordings per week. But since, I haven't had a failed recording, until today, in 18 days. So, not a valid work around at all, but these setting changes do seem to have some impact on this issue.

The log from this latest failed recording is:

Is there anybody working on the issue? Because of the lack of reliable HD recording and under the perssure of my "users", I am conteplating moving to the local cable services or moving back to Windows and a commercial PVR solution. I don't like the idea but 90% of our recordings are in HD and we never know if they are going to work or not.

I feel your pain Ianic. This bug is affecting 1 recording every 2 weeks, or so, always at the worst possible time. I reboot the machine everyday at noon and it reduces the occurences but I still get the problem once in a while. There was an Ubuntu update of MythtTV lately, I don't know if it changes anything, I haven't had time to look into it, I'm a bit short on time and end up spending only one evening a month on my HTPC setup. Would you mind sharing your script, I think it would help raise the WAF? Do you run it as a cron?

Thank you

Ianic

Version: 0.21.0+fixes16838-0ubuntu3

I have been seeing recordings fail with an error message that was supposed to have gone away ages ago. I've got two Air2PC cards that have been working fine for over a year, and up until Hardy I've never seen this problem.

Does this still occur with the weekly fixes builds or with Intrepid Alpha 6?

Actually I just started experiencing this problem on the 21st using Intrepid. I'm using a DVICO Fusion5 HDTV, I've never seen a problem like this before. None of my programs will record, seemingly even if I restart the backend. The error is preceeded by hundreds of errors that look like this:

2008-09-22 19:57:25.899 Could not find channel 1_5 in CVCT
2008-09-22 19:57:25.904
VCT Cable: channels(3) tsid(0x40) seclength(109)
Channel #0 name() 1008-0 mod(SCTE mode 2) cTSID(0x40)
 pnum(5) ETM_loc(0) access_ctrl(0) hidden(0)
path_select(0) out_of_band(0) hide_guide(1) service_type(2) source_id(4012)

Channel #1 name() 1008-0 mod(SCTE mode 2) cTSID(0x40)
 pnum(2) ETM_loc(0) access_ctrl(0) hidden(0)
path_select(0) out_of_band(0) hide_guide(1) service_type(2) source_id(7705)

If there's any other information I can provide to help, let me know.

Never mind, it seems the problem I was encountering was being caused by something else. Specifically two of my channels stopped being able to record, and although i could watch them, they could not be found by a channel scan either. After the channel scan they have disappeared completely, and I can not find them again.

Upstream has closed this as a driver bug.

Someone commented there that this started happening after he activated EIT scan on my second DVB-C card. Can anyone with this hardware correlate that either EIT in general, or EIT on a second card causes this behavior?

I don't have EIT scan activated for any of my (Air2PC) tuner cards, but I still occasionally encounter this bug.
