Bug Description

Binary package hint: mythbuntu-control-centre

I have this black Hauppauge MCE remote with two rows of jumppoint buttons:
http://www.mythtv.org/w/images/7/7f/Black_Hauppauge_2rows_jumppoints.jpg
$ lsusb gives:
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 1019:0f38 Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS)

The main button that doesn't work after getting MCC to make the button mappings is "Clear", which I would expect to be mapped to "D" to delete recordings.

In addition, the jump point buttons are not mapped to anything. This is a hard one because the jump points aren't mapped to anything on the keyboard.

I have it working perfectly now, by doing the following:
(1) running MCC with dynamic button mappings;
(2) update the ~/.lirc/mythtv file to have an entry for each item (see patch, to be attached), including mapping the jump point buttons to Alt+[something]; and
(3) edit the key configurations to map the jump points to Alt+[something].

I've attached a unified diff of my remote file vs the MCC file. I have only changed the "mceusb" section, as this is what my remote comes up with through lirc. I don't think that it should affect anyone else's remote, as all the changes were additions (aside from changing * from D to *, because my remote has a "Clear" button for that purpose -- if people want * to delete they can always set the key config that way).

I've also added place holders for the keys that I don't use (e.g. Power), as I think it would make it a lot easier for others to edit the file to use these buttons.

I've added a section describing which remotes (I only know mine) are "mceusb" remotes, in the hope that it will make it easier to make calls about what buttons should do (such as the * for Clear decision).

Finally, I've reordered the mceusb section to match my remote from left to right, top to bottom. I wouldn't normally have done this, but it didn't seem to be in an order that matched any of the MCE remotes. It seems a lot clearer to me, as similar things are together.

A nicer option for the jump points would be if it were possible to map these to the "My Pictures" buttons on an extended multimedia keyboard, as then these could be mapped to jump points in the default MythTV config. I chose Alt+[something] for each of these simply because I didn't think it would interfere with existing setups. For people who don't know about LIRC, it would be easier for the key to be mapped to something (even some obscure Alt command), so that trying to map it to a key in the key config does something (though I note that setting a new binding with these buttons actually came up as "Alt+Alt+[key]", but using the keyboard to set it to Alt+[key] still meant that the button on the remote worked).

This is by far the best remote setup that I've ever had for Myth!

Hopefully this helps some people.

Here is my complete ~/mythbuntu/.lirc/mythtv file for others to use until the diff is applied.

"mythbuntu-control-centre" is not part of any supported version of Ubuntu anymore. So I'm cleaning this out as WONTFIX. Please re-open if you feel otherwise.
