Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

I have reviewed your log files attached to this bug and it looks like you have purged a bunch of packages, likely leaving a mysql-server dependent package in a bad configuration state for some reason. Could you please describe a way to reproduce the issue you are seeing, possibly giving a step by step approach on how to reproduce the error ?

Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to
differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I
am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would:
provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you
believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your
system, and then change the bug status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

Hi Rafael,

I think you should just close this bug down. As you say it was mostly my
fault for messing around with some of the installed packages, I was trying
to install MySQL 5.7 previously.

Was simple to resolve, just removed mysql-server-8.0, 'apt autoremove' and
re-installed. Worked fine the second time.

The curse of auto-report :-) I thought it was a one click report for
statistics, not a full blown bug report, I will click with caution next
time.

Simon.
