Bug Description

I am installing mysql server in my ubuntu 16.04. I installed xampp which is collection of apache and mysql. It worked fine for few days. But one day I tried to start the server but I was not able to start mysql server. Apache started fine but not mysql. So does any one know how to fix it. I am not able to figure it out. I reinstalled it but problem stays there.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

To my knowledge xampp is not found in the ubuntu archive. If it is causing or having issues then you need to contact the upstream xampp developers. From the mysql log it seems the last entry shows it correctly starting.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Incomplete'.

However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would
be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem
with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu
rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug
status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

Changed in mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu):
