I am not sure on how to exactly describe the issue I am facing right now installing mysql-server, but this question on stackoverflow hints pretty much it.

provided by mysql-common, and your log reports that it was installed
before configure-symlinks was reported to not exist. /etc/mysql/conf.d

This makes no sense. Is there something broken about the mysql-common
package on just your system?

I'm not sure that a developer can work on this without steps to
reproduce, so I'm going to mark this bug Incomplete for now. If you can
reproduce this, then please provide steps and then change the bug status
