Bug Description

Initial upgrade to mysql server 5.6 from mysql-server 5.5 failed on converting the startupscript, creating the new starttup script for 5.6 failed. through several upgrades mysql server would not start without uninistalling and then reinstalling mysql server, it would never startup up on system startup or on manual start. failed on this update also

Second run of

shevek@raven:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
Setting up mysql-server-5.6 (5.6.23-1~exp1~ubuntu5) ...
Setting up mysql-server (5.6.23-1~exp1~ubuntu5) ...

succeeded. MySQL is now running.

This upgrade also triggered https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1438515 - not sure if related.
