Bug Description
Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.0
In the provided my.cnf file:
# note: if you are setting up a replication slave, see README.Debian about
# other settings you may need to change.
Yet the README.Debian only has a section called "FURTHER NOTES ON REPLICATION" (no initial notes, just a brief paragraph of "further notes" - did a vital section get cut here?). That section has nothing about other settings that need to be changed.
There is at least one important one. Importing the databases from the master will result in the "password" setting in /etc/mysql/
There may at least one other, since replication isn't working yet for me, despite following the standard doc at mysql.com.
affects: | mysql-dfsg-5.0 (Ubuntu) → mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu) |
The one other would appear to be commenting out
bind-address = 127.0.0.1
in the master's my.cnf. This allows the slave to connect. (It would be better if that could be set to two addresses rather than the all-or-one choice, but evidently MySQL doesn't have that option?)
