"About mypaint" window pop ups at start; respawns after closing it

Bug Description
Ubuntu Mate 17.10.
Running mypaint (1.2.0) gets you greeted with the "About Mypaint" window. When you click "Close", it comes back in, over and over. There's no way to avoid it or circumvent it to access the program (that I know of at least), so it renders the program unusable.
