Sequence of the bug that every login time regularly happen:

1) login Ubuntu 10.10 NETBOOK version;
2) click "Applications" (the icons are dummy !!!! Only the names of applications are displayed);
3) click "File manager";
4) click "Applications" an other time (hops! all icons are OK !!!!!);
5) click in "File Folder" (the icons are dummy!!!! Only the names of files are displayed);
6) click "File manager";
7) click "File Folder" an other time (hops! all icons are OK!!!!).
8) now the problem is solved the icons are forever displayed during all this system section.

At the next Ubuntu 10.10 NETBOOK version login the problem is now the same.

Nvidia GeForce 9300m GS 256 MB grafic card.
Driver "nVidia Ubuntu current version (suggested)" (so declared in "Added driver" application).

Note that the problem is only in UBUNTU 10.10 NETBOOK VERSION:
ALL IS OK: in UBUNTU 10.10 DESKTOOP versrsion, in UBUNTU 10.10 NETBOOK 2D
versrsion and in UBUNTU 10.04 NETBOOK version !! All on the same ACER TravelMate 7730 PC.

The same driver work correctly in all other 3 system versions, for this i think that is an bug against mutter UBUNTU 10.10 NETBOOK version.

Same thing here... Icons will display after a looooong time (about 5-10 minutes). Sometimes only some icons will load and other will take more time. Sometimes again icons are mixed : applications will display the wrong icons. I suppose the GUI would use a loaded icon instead of the real one (which might not be loaded) or something like that... All works fine when returning to Applications on the same session.
