Bug Description

IMPORTANT this only happens with WAYLAND but i couldn't choose wayland in the bug report options.

On my Ubuntu 22.04.03 I have set the time for my screen to go black/shut off in case of inactivity in the energy settings (to save energy) to 5 minutes. So I go back to my computer after 10 minutes or so and the screen is black like it should be. Problem is, that I can't turn the screen on or what I really mean is: get back to the desktop.

Next time the bug occurs, please reboot and then run:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

Thanks for your reply.

Just checked and yes it only happens when the external monitor is plugged in. However the external monitor goes on again as soon as I move the cursor and i see the background and cursor but the main monitor stays black.

Also if I do plugin the monitor once I'm logged in this doesn't happen. Only after a logout it happens again (I guess also after reboot but not tested yet)
PS: tested and after reboot it works fine. It stops working as soon as I do a logout. I have automatic login enabled!

Btw, I noticed that both monitors first go off as intended but then immediately go back on again and just show black screen.

Hope this information is useful.

I also attached the file that you asked for.
